山の緑と、い草の香り｜Indigo Letter #90
こんにちは。春の気配が少しずつ濃くなってきましたね。
先月から、天気の良い週末は近所の山に入っています。
梅雨前のこの季節は、緑がいちばん美しく、空気も澄んでいて本当に気持ちが良いのです。
Hello. We can feel the signs of spring slowly growing stronger.
Since last month, we’ve been spending clear weekends walking in the nearby mountains. This short season before the rainy months is when the greenery feels most alive and the air is especially fresh.
本当は北部まで足を伸ばしたいところですが、最近は石川岳や恩納岳へ。
ヤンバルからイノシシが南下していると聞いていましたが、どうやら本当のようで、木の根が掘り返された跡があちこちに見られました。
沖縄のイノシシは犬くらいの大きさで臆病な性格。危険な存在ではありません。
山に入るたびに、人も動物も穏やかに共存できる環境を大切にしていきたいと感じます。
We would love to travel further north, but lately we’ve been exploring Ishikawa-dake and Onna-dake closer to home.
We had heard that wild boars were moving south from Yanbaru, and the freshly dug roots we saw along the trails seemed to confirm it. Okinawan boars are about the size of a dog and quite shy, not dangerous animals.
Each time we step into the mountains, we’re reminded of how important it is to nurture an environment where people and wildlife can coexist peacefully.
さて、今回ご紹介するのはSさまのデイベッドです。
読書やお昼寝に使えるよう設計し、畳間のないマンションで多用途にお使いいただける仕様にしました。
This week, we’d like to share a custom daybed we created for S.
Designed for reading or an afternoon nap, it offers the comfort of a tatami space even in a modern apartment without a traditional Japanese room.
Sさまのお母様が沖縄ご出身とのことで、「沖縄産の畳を使いたい」というご希望をいただきました。
琉球畳に使われる“琉球ビーグ”は、現在うるま市の数軒の農家のみが生産する貴重な素材です。
本土や中国産のい草とは色や太さが異なり、力強く、清々しい香りがあります。
特注で制作してくださる業者を探し、仕立てていただきました。
S’s mother was born in Okinawa and expressed a wish to use locally grown tatami.
The material used for Ryukyu tatami—known as “Ryukyu beegu”—is now cultivated by only a handful of farmers in Uruma City, making it extremely rare.
It differs from mainland Japanese or imported rush grass in both color and thickness, with a stronger character and a wonderfully fresh scent.
We located a craftsman who could produce it by special order and had it custom made.
ご納品の際、い草の香りがふわりと広がり、とても喜んでいただけました。
「こういう家具が欲しかった」と言っていただける瞬間は、何にも代えがたい喜びです。

When we delivered the piece, the gentle scent of rush grass filled the room, and the family’s joy meant everything to us.
Moments like these—when someone says, “This is exactly what I was hoping for”—are truly irreplaceable.
88/90 Productsの展示会まで、いよいよ2週間を切りました。
Instagramでもご紹介していますが、100点以上の灯りや時計が並ぶ予定です。

As we’ve been sharing on Instagram, more than 100 one-of-a-kind lights and clocks will be on display.

最後に。山に自生するコシダで大きなリースを作りました。（トップ写真でちらりと登場しています。）
数年越しの構想が、ようやく形になりました。
これからライトやオーナメントを加えて、さらに仕上げていく予定です。
Finally, we created a large wreath using wild ferns gathered from the mountains.
It’s a project we’ve envisioned for years, and it has finally taken shape.
We’ll continue refining it with lights and ornaments, allowing it to evolve over time.
